I don't know how to tell you guys this but the new Mekons record is kind of a masterpiece without any weak points. The mildly sedate flow of the whole thing only throws the band's perennially self-regenerating creativity into relief: it's like watching a 42-year-old prizefighter who's learned to make his punches count. I have no idea what the album or its songs are about yet, having only listened once, but once is enough to tell me that the Mekons have located the hot spot of the zone they relocated a few years back on Out of Our Heads. Amazing stuff.
