Roommate Patrick steamed up some broccoli, water chestnuts, snow peas and carrots.  He decided he wanted a pbj instead so he gave the veggies to me and I slapped some rice wine vinegar, garlic powder and a little salt on there.  what a treat!  earlier I made my apple cider vinegar pasta salad.  Vinegar is the best!

That sounds awesome.

For dinner tonight, I had the 99 cent store brand corn flakes that I thought would be a worthy substitute for name brand corn flakes.

Apple cores and Chinese newspapers.

Pork chops marinated in any of the following:

margarita (tequila, lime, triple sec, salt)
Apple juice, dark rum
apple cider and spices

and then grilled. Yum. With a side dish of apple and potato roasted in the left over apple/rum marinade...

Dinner party Saturday!  Swanky.  Tentative menu:

Chilled cucumber soup

Seared crab crepe with prosciutto, tarragon and champagne reduction
Porcini crepe with reggiano, tarragon and champagne reduction for the vegetarians

Gnocchi in a red wine and fontina sauce with walnuts

Braised rabbit with blood orange and balsamic vinegar glaze
Fried tofu and garlic new potatoes with blood orange and balsamic vinegar glaze for the vegetarians

Dessert: probably ice cream, and I've got a fuckoff huge jar of Nutella too.

We

I haven't eaten it yet, but I just made the Raspberry Blackout Cake from Vegan with a Vengeance except I made a raspberry buttercream to go in the center instead of the preserves & ganache, then I added more raspberry preserves into the ganache for the topping. Fresh raspberries were $5.99/pint so they're not topped with those, sadly. But this thing looks amazing.

I bought it from a store!  Though I probably could have killed it if I wanted to, there are rabbits all over Chicago but I'm not sure of how foodsafe they are.

Rabbit for 9 is a chunk of change by the by.

We are going to have so much wine

But really, what are sloppy joes? its one of those American things that I've always heard of but do not know what they are. Are they really runny hamburgers? I always thought of them as like something to do with pancakes.

its more like marinara sauce with a ton of ground beef in it.  like more ground beef than marinara.  and the sauce can vary, sometimes its more bar-b-quey but its usually tomato sauce based.  you'd be hard pressed to find one outside of an elementary school cafeteria though.

although i could go for one now though.

and i resisted posting a picture of myself saying this is a sloppy joe.  but i'm pretty sloppy these days.

Ha! But damn, I thought they'd be something exotic and exciting that I will be salivating to try if I ever make it to estades unidos, like.... grits. or twinkies. stuff that is unheard of here.
