ha!  No.  I probably would if I had cable, though.

Yeah, I thought with that "He's just a kid" bit in S4 that Omar would go down simply because he was ignoring Michael's importance.

I'm still pretty satisfied with our predictions as to the whole Omar/Michael thing would shake out, even if no one was exactly right

i personally wasn't surprised at the way omar got killed just because it seemed very characteristic of the way simon and burns wrote the show, and it's also really realistic--which seemed like what they were always going for anyway, the whole "truth is a lot less neat and narratively convenient than fiction" thing.

Yeah, I've been knowing that Omar was gonna get got for quite some time. How else could it possibly have gone?

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but a handful of podcasts of interviews with cast and crew members, all of which are kinda interesting. http://marcsteinerblog.wordpress.com/2008/03/03/3308-the-wire-podcasts-ed-burns/

Go to the left hand side where there's the subheading "categories", click on podcasts, and you'll get a list of all the interviews this dudes done with the cast and crew. Include Simon, Bubbles and Bunk Freeman.

Pfffhahaha

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Clay Davis cracks an Obama joke in episode seven, se. 5. At his trial, he says what sounds like "I don't know how they do it out in Roland Park--maybe prosecutor O-Bond-a can enlighten me on that--but my world is strictly cash and carry."

Maybe I'm not hearing it right but I dunno what else it could be

Yeah, that's what he's doing.

That ep was written around the time there was a bunch of silly talk about African-Americans not embracing Obama 'cause he's "not black enough" or something.

Doesn't someone congratulate him on that clever turn-of-phrase in the following episode?

So Michael's going to be the star of the new 90210, huh?

The Veronica Mars guy is running it.  I was gonna watch it anyway; this just seals it.

Last I read he was still the name on the marquee but he would be pretty hands-off (at least until "Cupid" gets cancelled, ha!)

Who am I kidding, I'll watch at least the first three episodes no matter what.

Didn't Cupid already get canceled like ten fucking years ago!? What the fuck, television! Why not just a show about having sex with corpses? WHY NOT

haha yeah he's doing a reboot of "Cupid" for ABC.  It's got different actors, might even have a different name by now; I'm not sure.  I lost track of a bunch of in-production stuff thanks to the strike.

edit:  There probably would've been sex with corpses in "Babylon Fields" but CBS are pussies and didn't pick it up.

I know this doesn't really need to be necrod, but I just finished rewatching S4 and S5 (here in England, they've been on at a ridiculously late hour 3 times a week giving nobody except those off work for three months with a dodgy hip a chance in hell of following them) and, y'know, I just wanted to declare my love really.

I came round to thinking that a really key point to the street story was the battle for the soul of Micahel, and I liked the ambiguity of how that got resolved. Also, the demise of Cheese was as hilarious as a summary execution can be.

I absolutely agree with pollo etc that Omar had to go that way. The perfunctory randomness of it rightly feels all wrong because we are so invested in Omar, but as Andrew said, that's the way it happens in reality. Out of the blue and messy. The one that upset me most was probably Bodie.

At least Bubbles didn't get randomly caught in some crossfire though. It crossed my mind that he would, as some final dismal comment on the hopeless gravity of the street.

Necroooo is always appropriate for Wire threads

I'm going to rewatch the whole series this winter, and maybe the Sopranos too.
