i should have bookmarked this or something, but ages ago i came across a very nice resource for building a portfolio website. it was very stark and simple but endlessly reconfigurable. their front page was basically just a long list of links to artists who used their site. it was simple, and most importantly, nice looking. any ideas? google is bring me a lot of crappy things....
