It's like I said on facebook after the game: it's nice that we keep exceeding expectations and playing the top-tier teams really close--I mean, name one other school this year who has played not one, but TWO #1 teams as competitively as Tennessee, and we haven't even been ranked all year--but it would be fucking nice to win one of those games once in a while.

To be honest, as bad as it looks, Tennessee has only lost one game they shouldn't have: UCLA. The other three losses have been against conference powerhouses; two of those teams were ranked first in the country, and Auburn was #15. We beat the spread handily in every game.

Hell of an improvement since last year, that much is certain. I think it's quite possible we win out from here and pull off a miraculous 8-4 season. We'll beat South Carolina, I believe, and that only leaves Ole Miss. At the very least, we'll lose to the Rebels and end up 7-5 and bowl-eligible.

But yeah. Heartbreaking game today.

NEW YORK–Michael Grippo, a 95-year-old Bronx native, told reporters Wednesday that he is "worried sick" that he won't live to see the Yankees win another 27 World Series titles. "We came so close in 1955, 1960, 1976, 2001, and 2004. If we had won just one of those, that would have been 27 right there," said Grippo, adding that while he was in attendance for Tommy Henrich's walk-off homer in 1949, Don Larson's perfect game in 1956, and Mickey Mantle's game-ending home run in 1964, none of it will matter if the Yankees don't win at least another 27 World Series championships. "I'll say this, if we could take home 27 championships just one more time, my soul will rest easy." Grippo said that, if nothing else, he hoped his six children and 21 grandchildren would get to see the Yankees win just 1,396 more World Series in their lifetimes.

If anyone still has any doubt that the Gators are the bad guys of college football (and not in the good way), all this Urban Meyer/Brandon Spikes/eye-gouging shit should set them straight at last.

I'm amazed that woman made it through the whole game without getting red carded.

By the way, with the circulation of that video, Elizabeth Lambert has now been suspended indefinitely from the New Mexico soccer team. But of course, we all know "suspended indefinitely" is just coach-speak for "suspended for a couple weeks and reinstated the second it seems like people have forgotten about it."

Wasn't that a single-elimination playoff game? In which case, the suspension is more or less completely meaningless until next season.

Either way, it's a blessing in disguise. This soccer thing ain't for her, she needs to be in an old warehouse in the desert somewhere remaking China O'Brien

World Series of Poker main event just ended. I won't give away the winner, in case any of y'all wanna watch it unawares, but let's just say that neither player did anything to dispel his dumb-aggressive-neophyte reputation.

NZ soccer team are one up against Bahrain. If they win they go to the world cup for only the second time (the first time being in 1982).

If they had to bring cricket bats onto the pitch that's something of a pyrrhic victory.
