What I'm reading is Peace is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh.  I'm really enjoying it.  Trying to learn how to breathe a lot more, meditate, etc. It's One of several texts given to me by my therapist lately to help me curb anxiety and general low-level unhappiness.  So far, it's by far the best book he's given me.  He was quick to be like "I Know you're a Jesus guy, and I'm not trying to make you be a Buddha guy.  But give the ideas in the book a chance!" as though they were going to be inflammatory.

Last night I watched Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher's solo show. According to Carrie Fisher, when George Lucas first saw her in the white dress she wears in the first Star Wars, he said "oh, you can't wear a bra with that." When she asked him why, he said "because there's no underwear in space." I love this.

Hey gang, how about a little long but not forgotten "Conversations Between Roommates!"
Paul: Oh no.
Paul: Goddammit!
Paul: What the hell?!
Josh: What's happening out there?
Paul: I think I left my beer downstairs!
Josh: Oh shit, all the way down there?!
Paul: Oh, no wait it's over here.

And scene.

I came back late last night from a long weekend at Kawakawa Bay on Lake Taupo. Four hour drive, two hour hike in, three days of camping and rock climbing on the lakeside cliffs (it's fun when you look down for a foothold and see the water 80 meters below you), and near-complete isolation from the outside world - we heard from some boaties that New Zealand had won the rugby world cup, but that's about it. I had a lot of worries on my mind, which returned the moment I was back in my own bed, but for those three days I was entirely relaxed (and climbing closer to the level I did back when I climbed three times a week). And apparently I invaded one of Greg's dreams. Good times all round.

I love it. It's so anti-climactic, too, it's doubtful it was staged.

So there are couple small groups of wild turkeys that roam about Omaha. There's one group that I used to see on my way to work that hung out around the university and sometimes by a church and one time my friend saw them checking out real estate. Those guys are great. But then I moved and now I take a different way to work, and I found another group of turkeys that I didn't know existed who hang out on 96th street. It's a bit less-traveled than the roads that the first group of turkeys hang out on, and it seems to work for them. I've taken to rolling down my window and yelling "WHAT'S UP TURKEEEEEEEYS!" when I see them. Other drivers probably think I'm crazy, but the turkeys seem to dig it. One recent morning they were just chilling on the edge of 96th street watching cars go by, and I'm pretty sure one of them gave me a nod when I said what's up.

As if Omaha didn't sound cool enough already, the promise of rolling deep with your own turkey posse tips the scales even further.
