You can choose up to 2 items because I have 2 pieces of toast.

Oh crap, I think I want to change my hummus vote to Blackberry Jelly. Blackberry Jelly and Refried beans. Throw some cayenne on the whole thing. Shit, that sounds good.

I vote for a chicken salad and mashed potato sandwich.

You know what's awesome on toast? Matcha butter. There's this place in Williamsburg that toasts the bread, puts the butter on, then toasts it again so the matcha gets all caramelized on top.

Oh, I thought both condiments would go on at the same time, so I chose refried beans and mayo.

It is a bad poll. Mayo is a terrible option. I was just looking through the fridge thinking "what could I put on this instead of butter?" and the options just kept getting weirder

There are eggs and cheese in the fridge too. But those options seem hollow without the butter Sad

I went for chicken salad and chile relish because I, too, thought there was a single piece of toast.

This is a good idea.

I went for hummus and mashed potatoes because they seem like they'd be kind of gross together

Where's your pb? in yr cupboard or not at all? I haven't chosen yet cos I want to choose multiple things that go together. I'm tempted by the Patak's chilli relish though. Let me have another look.

Yeah, I chose mashed potatoes and chilli relish, but they go on one piece together. the other piece would be blackberry jelly, with or without peanut butter.

I know it's not really an option, but that patak's with some cream cheese would basically be a fantastic toast or bagel topping.

Well I ended up poaching a couple of eggs in that curry sauce, I know, I didn't mention eggs in the poll

I guess if somebody wants to start a new food thread they can but I'ma use this one for now 'cause the other one is large

Here is a dumb thing I did today, I went and bought a gigantic and delicious apple fritter at a classic south side joint for a couple of bucks, then stood outside a fancy downtown donut place where you pay 3 bucks for a regular donut and pantomimed eating this gigantic delicious thing to taunt its customers.

I felt bad though, they say the lines at this place died down due to the weather, but it's in the 50s and beautiful today and there wasn't anybody outside to taunt. Sad

The best drunken one-pot meal: fry some sauerkraut pierogi in butter, then pour in an inch or so of chicken stock to braise. The kicker: crack an egg into the stock before you put the lid on. The egg gets stocky, and the pierogi get eggy. Magnifique!

Man I have been just crushing it in the kitchen lately. I think I've cooked 3 of every four meals we've eaten in the past 10 days or so. Highlights were pork satay with peanut sauce and a variation of the Barefoot Contessa broccoli thing that Nog likes so much. Just made some brownies for D. Making brownies from scratch is like two more steps than making them from mix, who knew.

I just ate the last of it from two days ago. It was still awesome. I made it with mozzarella not parmesan, though, and added red onion. Though now, looking at the recipe, I wish I'd thrown in some pine nuts.

Missed dinner tonight. Homebrew club meeting. Got home a while ago. Emptyish 13x9 pan on the stove.  The leftover chicken from the pan made it into the fridge and yet

and yet, in this 13x9 pan...

there are some things that taste almost criminally good. onions that have been caramelized in chicken fat are among them
