have we talked about nht boyz here? deej of somanyshrimp just mentioned their record from last year, power triangle, and it's pretty tremendous, sort of waka-esque personalities meeting boom-bap. (this description could be way off, i just started listening)

they also have a new single out called chee$e and it bangs like hell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3g8FnDYfOI

holy shit yeah

my waka comparison is off because, hey, they're pretty technical rappers

but they also have great personalities

Look man you can just say you're not attracted to them, I'm your bro, I'm not gonna spread it around.  I guess the blind date thing wasn't gonna work out, but it was worth a shot right?

Azaelia Banks doesn't have nearly the amount of songs on youtube as milli mars but all of her views are in the thousands.
If I had to guess, I'd attribute Azaelia's comparative wealth of views to Pitchfork's seemingly relentless campaign to promote her. They wrote a whole "Rising" (or whatever they call it) article about her as an up-and-coming artist, and reviewed a couple of her tracks favorably (at least one was BNM'd if I recall correctly). And yes, I'm embarrassed to know this information.

As for NhT Boyz, that Chee$e track is super dope. The only song of theirs I'd heard before seeing them mentioned in this thread was Chillin Like A Big Shot ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7049TrtHkE ), which was posted on Space Age Hustle a week or two ago, and its similarly awesome. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as to call them "technical" from the little I've heard, but they definitely have about there times more personality than the average blog rap fare. The song I linked opens with the following lines:

My niggas chef like Raekwon
Cook like Daequan
One point five for the white like Kraeyshawn
I'm just a nigga hoes love like Faison
Sippin purple rain like I'm Prince #noTayshaun

I'm definitely gonna need to check out their tape.

actually it seems that she's been around since 2009 and diplo did the beat for her first single. She's been doing music and acting since she was 10 and went to the same performing arts school as nikki minaj. wikipediaaaaaaaaaaaa

I like that this board is all moving to rap. Waiting for Nick Ink to be up in here, like, "on this new CalipysoVeg trip, this rapper who raps about cats using radio hiss as beats".

Music Video: Milli Mars - "The Alarm"

I love this, but I know exactly zero about this dude. Some dark stuff outta San Antonio. Great vid.

I am into this shit. Anything with butcher shops, and meat, feels gritty. Goddamn catchy.

B$C is so good.  Without Clams, it gets a little too close to Girl Talk territory a couple times, but it's probably worth it for "I got hos but I'm still feelin lonely / trappin out my momma house / keep the banger on me" over that "Landslide" sample.

New EP from The Team

Basically, just some ridiculous slap to make the car and/or club shake.  Their previous LP, World Premiere (2006), is one of my favorite things ever.

Domo Genesis has stepped up his flow, but now he's just rapping over these mid-90s-NYC-sounding beats.  I'm not sure what to make of it but it's far less interesting than Rolling Papers.

Flatbush Zombies - "Thug Waffle"

Again on some tumblr/hipster post-OF/Danny Brown shit with some good promotional connects.  Director is part of the Madbury Club and a contributor to - wait for it - GQ.

I dig the first verse.  The second guy with the Manson eyebrows has a straight-up backpacker flow [what the fuck] and I find it boring.

What the fuck is going on in rap these days?  The hipster/scenester thing is getting pretty serious.  I am not at all comfortable with the way the hype cycle is working.

Yeah, but it's not like the hype cycle is ever not-fucked-up in some way. Rap's just finally adjusting to the internet and having some growing pains the way indie rock did that weird year where everyone liked Tapes N Tapes.

Also, White Flame is going to be ridiculous:
