Found the Walt Disney's Story of Menstruation while falling down various internet rabbit holes this weekend, and I am wondering: Why was this banned? Is it because there was a chick showering even though they didn't draw in her nipples? Is it because Fallopian tubes are inherently sinful?

anyway, it's actually pretty good

Haha that is great, especially the whole, but of course you won't be having sex, I mean, dancing, with a man during your period. I am definitely sending that to my friend who researches the menstrual cycle.

"Kummerspeck", which refers to excess weight gained due to emotional overeating. The word translates literally to "grief bacon".

'Worry fat' would be better. Referring to a layer of fat on a living being as bacon is commonplace in German and its close relatives (which aren't adultered by Norman French). It's a lovely term, though.

And in a lovely turn of synchronicity, the word was mentioned in a locally produced TV game show tonight.

Does anyone know where I could find a larger version of this image?

I've looked and looked and come up with nothing, so maybe it's not out there.

All I could find out about it was that it was auctioned off on ebay 7 years ago. Couldn't find any followup posts about whether it went or not. Nice work, Hannah!

The answer to the question on that first page ("how did they manage to get out onto the Brooklyn Bridge with a shotgun") is: that is a Red Ryder

*wait, no! Upon closer inspection, there's a hammer on it!

Man I do not know fuck about fuck anymore. It took me like a week to put together why everyone kept posting these videos of different people singing something called Call Me Maybe, and I still don't know what the hell.

Man, my dad could totally do that! He's got maybe half a dozen of those old catalogs sitting around from his days as a librarian.

This obituary of a Frenchman who served as a British special agent in WW2 working with the Resistance is absolutely bananas.

Quote
He joined the Charly group of the Resistance, harassing the German lines. One night he opened the door of an apparently deserted building, only for a German soldier to open a door opposite at exactly the same moment. In the gloom, each man fired four or fire shots at the other, missed, and simply retreated through the doors they had come through. For La Rochefoucauld, the incident illustrated the sometimes farcical nature of war.
