Yes, it's here and I'm listening to it.  I've gotten as far as El Josharino's cover of "Voices Carry" and I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU GUYS.

And Blake!  Thanks for the trade.  Look for my cd in the mail as soon as I can afford to mail it.

Edit: upon further listens

RoyBiggins just broke my damn heart.  Oh, and my brother recognizes Trousers and Pat's cover cos he rembers playing it a long time ago.  I asked him to dig up more info on it for us.

You guys are all fucking awesome.  I'm so happy this is seeing the light of day.  I am currently awash in coldforge's "Possum Kingdom."

Pretty fuckin' sweet, eh? I was real excited for you all to get this, especially you.
(Thanks for the trade, I hope you like the album.

Ah and the New Order cover? Story goes like this:
Very, very drunk one night. Ladyfriend also quite blazed. I'm at her place at like 3 am and we're lying in bed after the sex-thang and she is going on about how she just HAS to hear 'temptation' or she'll NEVER get to sleep. Alas, the CD is at my place. So I grab her guitar and just kinda play the thing. She insisted on recording it because she likes to do such things.
Hence the embarrasingly out of tune but oh-so-awesome 'oo-oo-oohs'. I love the way it turned out.

(P.S. Greg, yours is going out Monday. I couldn't justify sending it without getting you a little something out of gratitude. No, it is not robot porn. Sorry.)

Davy man I mailed it all out the same day, Myke just got lucky.

Greg, I'm fuckin' SORRY. Jeez, I try to do something NICE for a change, and you just walk all over me. THAT'S IT. I want a divorce. You can have the house and kids... I'm taking the beens and the donkey and moving to Mexico.

I was driving around today listening to coldforge's "Possum Kingdom" trying to place its connection to the original.  How did you structure this man?  I think I picked up on the chords used in the verses and chorus each being hit once, and then there's that burst of sequenced notes at the end, like the whole song was stripped of structure and reduced to its base components.

Whatever you did, it's fucking brilliant.

You basically nailed it, Mike, except it wasn't the whole song; it was just the first 9 seconds.

EDIT: Ok so basically I took a group of features of the first nine seconds (which is the main riff, in its entirety, once) and composed a piece with those features as guidelines.

You've got 2 chords, E7 and A with a pulloff from the 4th to the major third. You've got three instances of the first chord followed by one instance of the second, then three instances of the first followed by two of the second. You've got a basic rhythmic object of 15/4, split up into 7 measures of A, and then 8 of B.

I used those features to guide my composition, so things tend to happen either AAAB,AAABB or AAAAAAABBBBBBBB; there is a general oscillation/resolution from E7 to A. The basic harmonic structure of the entire piece is interplay between those two chords. When the sequenced notes come in at the end, they are kind of exemplifying all of the qualities of the riff, in that they are outlining those two chords (including the pulloff), with the basic 15-measure pattern (with some licenses taken, of course.) And one bonus that I definitely hadn't planned out is that the pulloff, from the 4th to the major third, when slowed down as slow as it is, actually becomes a cadence, and it resolves an Asus4 into an A, and it sounds awesome.

So uh, yeah. I hope all that muso bullshit didn't ruin the song for anyone. Most of the time I just randomly clicked on things.

And yeah, killer artwork, right?

Who got the autographed Ace Freeley guitar pick? I can't remember, but it's genuine. Sorta.

What do you mean "Sorta"?  And Jeb, you have to scan that thing and post it here.

Well, what I mean is the guy TOLD me he was Ace Freeley, but he didn't LOOK like Ace Freeley. That's another story though, suffice it to say it was pretty cool.

Davy, I'm sorry man, I fuckin' SENT it the same day as everything else, and adorable mail girl usually does a pretty good job of not screwing up my mail.

Sent out Greg's yesterday, and sending out a few more tommorrow. Keep the order's coming!

Jeb has no scanner, otherwise he would.  Also he too is wondering what is meant by "sorta"?  It ain't the real deal?

Right now I'm listening to the originals disc and GODDAMMIT a lot of this is sooooo good.  In fact, all of it.  I'm really diggin' on "Cup Castle" right now, but seriously you guys, everything here is fucking AWESOME.  I like Greg's song a lot, too.

I think my favorite on the covers disc might be Freddy's verision of "I Believe in a Thing Called Love," although I don't think there's a single song I didn't enjoy (other than maybe my own, ha).

Also, Greg--the tracklist for the covers disc?  Brilliant.

Oh, you little scamps!  Thanks for your kind words towards my design-choices, y'all.

I'm assuming I'll get mine either tomorrow or the day after.  At least, I hope I do.  This morning, I tried replicating the feel of the CDs by listening to a song of coldforge's, then a song of Maaik's, then a song of mine, but man, it just wasn't the same.

We oughta do more stuff like this and take forever to put that together too.  Ooh!  An outdoor festival, that'll take us like three years to organize!

Hey man we got it DONE... once Greg and I had the actual music it took us a very short time (relatively...) in comparision to how long it took everyone to send us the songs.

Which are all very great, might I add.

HAD to open the Originals disc with that Tri-State Killing Spree song, it roxors my boxors.

haha i just got the package in the mail today, when i went to check my po box. and of course, as soon as i opened it and saw my band was the first one on the originals disc, i got really embarrassed.

but seriously, thanks everyone for bringing this wonderful thing into my life. all i've heard so far is maaik's song, and it's fucking beautiful.

oh wait, now davy's has started. talk about night and day. hahaha.

Yeah, it's funny comparing TSKS to Andrew's cover.  Balls-out hardcore...pensive lo-fi bass plucking.  I love it.

Oh yeah, and I know how you feel Andrew (and thank you!).  I wasn't expecting to kick off the disc.  Not that I'm not honored, just didn't seem to me like a "track 1."

But overall, go us!

Oh man, just wait til you get to RoyBiggins' contribution.  That shit breaks my heart every time.  I'm serious, I'm going to be playing this for my kids someday.
