So I recently bought a couple of 800mb/90minute blank CDs because this one mix I compiled is a little over 80 minutes long and I didn't have it in my heart to kick off any of the songs on it, but now that I am actually trying to burn it, none of the CD burning software I have on my computer lets me do that - they all claim that the playlist is too long to fit on one CD. Is there any way to convince any of my software (itunes, roxio, windows media player - there should also be a Nero CD lying around somewhere which I'd just need to install in case that helps) that the blank CD I inserted is indeed 90, and not 80 minutes, long? Do you know of any software that can do this? Am I doing something wrong?

edit: okay, looks like it's going to be install Nero (which I don't have lying around after all, but can get quite easily) and mess with the overburning settings.

You might want to get a less consumer friendly, more bare-bones ISO image burner. I can't give you any recommendations though: Nero has always done what I've needed done.

That's what I figured out too, so I borrowed my brother's installation disc and installed Nero on my computer. Except Nero refuses to recognise my burner and hence creates only an image file, but no actual CD (which is weird, because none of the other software on my computer has troubles recognising it). Does anyone have a clue how I could get Nero to recognise my CD burner, or where the problem could potentially be?

How old is your bro's version of Nero?  I'm guessing you just need an update, which you should be able to get from their site.

on the nero question rather than the wider overburning question, i know that some copies of nero only work with the cd writer with which they were sold - maybe that's your problem? you may need to get hold of an writer-independent disc/download.

thanks Josh, I'll try the update when I'm home. It's definitely a few years old, so it might have something to do with that indeed.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. But it worked just fine on my old computer, so I'm pretty sure that that's not the issue here.

'tis the sacrifice of a laptop. there are a few different layouts available with the computer (which are in the keyboard section of system preferences,) but i doubt those will give you a backspace key.

someone may know something i don't, although i'm fairly certain neither creating your own keyboard layout nor finding custom ones are easy.

Well, yeah, but the delete key does the same thing as the backspace key.  And then the Del key does what a delete key on the pc does.

oh yeahs, I guess my G4 desktop has one, but my laptop doesn't.  I'm try to think of like, the inspiron keyboard layout, if PC laptops have both or not.  I think they do, but you have to use that extra "function" key, which, lo and behold, is exactly like an apple key, pollo, you little bitch.

Bitch was sweet, though, for real. I wish I still had it. I'd buy another one if I could get it for less than antique prices.

Rock.

Rock beats XT-8088.

On the other hand, XT-8088 beats paper.
