New TV thread.

Inaugurating by saying that there's only two days 'til Doctor Who Season 3 comes out.  Oh my!

I wish someone would have named the new TV thread "Nicknames are for friends and television is no friend of mine."

There were loads of ads for that show here, then they suddenly stopped it, due to poor ratings I think. I never saw an ep.

A) I miss having a TV in my bedroom.

B) I need to figure out how to drum up the cash to get the Twin Peaks box set that just came out.

I'm so insanely broke right now, but it absolutely killed me to leave that in the store. I haven't seen Twin Peaks since it was actually on tv.

its Family Guy's 100th episode tonight, which when i heard that on the radio yesterday kinda made me frown.  that show already has 100 episodes?   i remember when fox was going to drop it after two seasons, and so many people were desperate to see it keep going - that it didn't really seem like they had established anything memorable enough to make me really care either way.  and when i think about what the Simpsons managed to accomplish in 100 episodes, let alone two seasons . . . kinda makes me bemoan the current state of television.   Neutral

I just finished S.2 of the wire.  Pablo Schreiber is a damn fine actor.

Lord yes, that's a good show.

Hey, every episode is on youtube. Also, every episode of Black Books is on youtube, if you just pump in the episode titles along with the show title.

If anyone here hasn't seen either, I recommend:

The Red Door (IT Crowd)

and

Hello Sun (Black Books; it's a lot better if you've gotten to know the characters first, though)

You an' me both, brutha.

In other news, I have just spotted my fifth Big Lebowski reference in Veronica Mars. At this point, I'm sure they're doing it just to amuse me, personally.

I'm near the point of breaking down and buying that Twin Peaks box.  Pretty sure I can rationalize it because I have 3 paychecks this month.

OK so i've been watching Twin Peaks lately. I just finished the first season and I gotta say it's WAY less good than I remember it. Does it improve in the second?

i can't get behind hating on the first season though. one of the highlights of television history as far as i'm concerned. and really only a few parts of the second season get on my nerves. but a lot of people aren't into it.

The best part was Cooper's Dream, and even that was WAY less creepy than when I was ten.

At the time, it was the ONLY thing on TV that didn't suck so very deeply. It was really revelatory, esp the music and the look of it. I agree that it didn't age well, and that it fell apart after the 1st season.

Unless your first exposure to his work, like mine, left you angry for weeks.  I'll never go near anything that man has touched ever again.
