There's the story from the paper. It doesn't really say. It says he was dining with a friend who serves on the board of a group he formed to raise awareness of poverty and AIDS in Africa, but it doesn't say if his trip was related to that or what.

so i bought a more expensive razor recently, and there's no doubt about it, the super-futuristic sci-fi blades that fit it don't do nearly as good a job shaving my face as the 4-for-$5 disposables that i'd been using before.

if it weren't for the fact that i'm appalled on a very deep level by the idea of having facial hair, there'd be no way that the american shaving industry would still get my business.

The Sprint customer service rep I just spoke to on the phone was the most fucking patronizing piece of shit.  God her voice made my skin crawl.  Fucking reprogramming the phone and I punch in the number she tells me to punch in and I click OK like she tells me to and she asks me if I've done it and I say yes and she says Oh Good Job!! like I'm a toddler or a fucking mental incompetent.  Jesus fuck lady, you may think your phone skills are great but you don't fucking talk to people like they're a classroom of retarded kindergarteners.  If you were in front of me talking to me like that I'd smash your fucking face in with a brick.  You are an asshole.

I could never be a customer service person for a telecom company, knowing how many people would want to smash my face in with a brick.

Someone's obviously never had to do over-the-phone tech support.  For every one person who has an inkling of what he is doing, there is a person who does not know the difference between his computer and a gas pump (I am not making that up).

I thought he was all fancy schmancy internal IT, but possibly.  Still, being painstaking and annoying is sadly the only way to make phone tech support work.

If it takes me explaining to you 3 fucking times what it is that I'm calling about before you get it through your skull, you do not get to use the tone of voice with me that says I'm a good puppy for doing it on the paper.

I only occasionally have to support someone over the phone these days because most things I work on I can control remotely.  I haven't worked a helpdesk since 1997.

I've been to two doctors so far this week!

I have one more this afternoon and then I was supposed to be done!

But apparently my heart is fucked up again (it was a dumb dumb when I was younger and supposedly fixed itself when I grew up) But now it started sucking again! So I have to go to a cardiologist as well, now.

Bah.

I sprained my foot or something, and it's annoying the crap out of me.  This dull, swollen pain.

As near as I can tell from looking at diagrams on the internet, the problem is where the "tibialis posterior" tendon connects to the "tuberosity of the navicular bone".  So I've got a bit of a limp today.

Bah!  You people and your modern medicine-men!  My forebears took three demi-cups of Marsh's Snake Powder each fortnight, and it cured what ailed 'em.  If it was good enough for old Hosephias Erskine, consarn it, it's good enough for me!

Hosephias also had the interwebs.  Except back then, they called them "the thinkin'-roads"

not that the dr could do much about a sprain anyway. 600-800mgs of ibuprofen, ice, elevate, ace bandage to immobilize as much as possible.

Does the ibuprofen help with the Healing Process, or is just to be a painkiller?  Painkillers make me feel hell of weird in the head, but if it helps the foot, I'll trade head-grossness for foot-health.
