Song against sex late in the game!?! Does it work well back there? I always sort of just thought of it as a great first song. In fact, it's the first NMH song I ever heard.

Sean Na Na - Princess and the Pony

I dearly cherish my Sean Na Na T-shirt, for shame that he's more known for dancing around in pink underwear as Har Mar than for the great songwriter he is. Anyone heard My Majesty? Is it really awesome?

A Familiar Noise Called "Train Director" - Olivia Tremor Control
The D-Plan Gets Rich - The Dismemberment Plan
Time Has Told Me - Nick Drake
Ambulance - TVOTR
Beautiful - B&S
O'Rourke's, 1:20 AM - The Good Life
Evil - Interpol
Lounge (Closing Time) - Modest Mouse
Black Hearts and Trombones - Manishevitz
Walkin' With Jesus - The Spacemen 3
Rattled by the Rush - Pavement
Temptation - Tom Waits
Say Yes - Elliot Smith

It's pretty non-sensical order wise, and I couldn't really find a spot for hip hop at all (plus the recipient isn't much of a hip hop head, so that's alright). But, in my defense, every song there is A++ if i do say so myself.

music made for me to drive to wisconsin to:

the brian jonestown massacre / evergreen
bob dylan / hurricane
the human league / love action
the walkmen / thinking of a dream
primal scream / shoot speed kill light
the concretes / diana ross
richard hell and the voidoids / love comes in spurts
king tubby / king tubby's conversation dub
echo and the bunnymen / over the wall
johnny thunders and the heartbreakers / it's not enough

the modern lovers / old world
joy division / love will tear us apart (bbc sesh version)
the new york dolls / chatterbox
the who / i can see for miles
led zeppelin / all of my love
meat loaf / paradise by the dashboard lights

as you can see, my mix tape is bookended by epics ("hurricane" and "dashboard lights", respectively) and descends into heavy cheese in the end ("all of my love" and "paradise", of course).  this all makes it pretty much perfect for a night drive.

also, i made an ipod mix for my sweetheart:

rainer maria / tinfoil (for some reason i really love this song)
ELO / Mr. blue sky
can't stand me now / the libertines
tattoo / the who
tom tom club / the genius of love
nancy sinatra & lee hazelwood / some velvet morning
city of women / robyn hitchcock
tommy james and the shondells / crimson and clover
the velvet underground / pale blue eyes
bjork / who is it
camera obscura / supsended from class
dntel / anywhere anyone
talking heads / take me to the river (live from the name of this band...)
