Maybe what I feel is more gratitude than happiness, but I think that's close enough.

No, I made a scrapbook telling the story of our ten years--it was about 18 pages long.

At the end there was the start of a letter glued to the page with an envelope.  He pulled out the envelope, and inside it said "I love you!  Will you Marry Me?
__yes
__no
__I hafta ask my mom."

This was my question b/c that's the way I asked him out ten years ago, but in a note--that was on page two of the scrapbook.

We are going ring shopping soon, and just getting basic white gold bands.  As much as a bike or guitar would have rocked, I think this is best.

So impressed you went through with the note! Who says romance is dead? (it's really hard to type rhetorically)

So, I got a text from Sophie saying that her boyfriend/fiancee has finally found a full time job, this means that if he keeps it by somehow managing not to fuck it up, that once he gets paid (in a months time) I'll be able to stop sending them monthly checks to pay for their rent and food. This means I'll probably be able to cut down to part time work, which means more time for studying. Of course I'm also looking at this in a glass half empty kind of way, because a) chances are he'll lose the job, and b) that this is the first time she's responded to any of my calls or texts over the last month or so, and it could mean that once he's in full paid employment that she'll not need my financial help and therefore be quite content to cut me out of her life for good. But lets focus on the positive, and not worry about what might be..he has a job, I may not have to work as much.

Doctor Bob is a top-notch guy.  Jim, Mindy, Ian, Almanzo, Bob and I had Hot Doug's today, and also got some crazy bourgeois cupcakes. It was rad.

Friday night, the power went out at my place.  As it turns out, it wasn't just my place, but like four blocks worth of residences and businesses.  The goddamn Kroger across the street lost power!

Anyway, alone in the house, I lit what few candles I could find and just sat around and played guitar for a while.  The next morning, there was a note taped to my door:

Quote from: a neighbor with female handwriting
Thanks for playing the guitar & singing last night when the power went out!  It was a great accompaniment to the quiet!  And, if that was ALL you?  WOW!!
Play anytime! Smile

Seriously MADE my day.

that's really nice, Maaik! Good work!

I'm happy because I've been asked to be a student reviewer for some academic publication thing 'round these parts. I realize this is really very unimportant, but then english professor I had last semester recommended me so highly and sent in my portfolio that they offered me the position and now I'm on the little board! Fantastic.

Today was reasonably productive. I think I'll be on target for reviews on Friday. I just need to get a bunch of little shit together at the last minute.  Puppy-dog-eyed sincerity

Today, we made three hundered and fifty quid at the anti-starbucks coffee and cake stall. The money is going to a local community centre.

Yesterday was a fucking awesome day.  Work consisted of 2.6 hours of breaktime (wtf), I was super excited because macbooks have been updated and I'm due to get one in a week AND the boys I work with were super excited with me because they're music guys and they want macbooks for producin' shit.  I had a beastly conversation with a bunch of people about Tim Schafer games and  I think there's a plan for a get together where we hook up the tv to a computer and play full throttle.
And stuff with a boy!
And chinese food!
