yup! the pavlik/taylor rematch! the last fight was epic. it's pay per view though. but, of course, that just means free if u watch it on the 'net on chinese tv (which is what my cheap ass is gonna do)

yeah...i haven't seen any of his street fights but they kept referring to him as a 'legend'. and he pounded the shit out of tank abbott in like 30 seconds.
i wish this guy would move to boxing. he said in the after-fight interview it was his dream to go toe to toe with tyson. that's not gonna happen but if kimbo slice were to move to hw boxing, i think he might electrify a kinda stagnant time for boxing. the biggest current name, floyd mayweather jr is too much a technical defensive player to bring the sound and the fury. plus, i think it's all about the heavyweight. people want to see the big boys.

kelly pavlik, who i'm all  Heart for, defeated jermain taylor in an unanimous decision. i didn't care for jermain taylor before this fight, but i gotta give him credit: he showed a lot of heart. he's a real pro.

All I have to say is that I am in full support of the apparent resurgence of the beard in sports.

Just an interesting little titbit I picked up from my readings:

Quote
When someone who delights in annoying
and vexing peace-loving folk receives at last
a right good beating, it is certainly an ill, but
everyone approves of it and considers it as
good in itself, even if nothing further results
from it.
Immanuel Kant - Critique of Practical Reason

Kant had his moments. I think this one is still my fave, though:

Quote from: Immanuel Kant
If it were possible to settle by any sort of experience whether there are inhabitants of at least some of the planets that we see, I might well bet everything that I have on it. Hence I say that it is not merely an opinion but a strong belief (on the correctness of which I would wager many adventures in life) that there are also inhabitants of other worlds.

Critique of Pure Reason.

Critique of Pure Reason.

I will always cherish:

Quote
Suppose that some one tells the following story: An Indian at an
Englishman's table in Surat saw a bottle of ale opened, and all the
beer turned into froth and flowing out. The repeated exclamations of
the Indian showed his great astonishment. "Well, what is so
wonderful in that?" asked the Englishman. "Oh, I'm not surprised
myself," said the Indian, "at its getting out, but at how you ever
managed to get it all in." At this we laugh, and it gives us hearty
pleasure. This is not because we think ourselves, maybe, more
quick-witted than this ignorant Indian, or because our understanding
here brings to our notice any other ground of delight. It is rather
that the bubble of our expectation was extended to the full and
suddenly went off into nothing.

Critique of Judgement.

I am so strong and mighty that when I went to lock the door of my dorm room this morning, the key snapped.

Had I realized this was the problem, I would have beaten my chest and growled at the people walking by me instead of looking around pitifully while scratching my head and attempting to figure out why the door wouldn't lock anymore.
