I want a pretzel.

I'm debating on updating my iPod, but I don't have time to dick around with potential problems at the moment.

You don't want one of those pretzels.  They are stale.

(I was watching some NYC movie recently (Three Days of the Condor?  When Harry Met Sally?), and somebody gets a pretzel from a cart, and it's the good kind that is almost crisp on the outside and super soft in the middle, and I yearned, briefly, for them days.)

Some more test snaps, showing off the tap to focus:

This is without specific focus; just pointing and shooting.

With focus on the ConEd truck.

With focus on the cervical cancer public awareness ad.

that's pretty cool, pollo.  I am still thinking my ancient first generation iPhone is utter magic, but having a decent camera is a strong selling point.

With focus on the cervical cancer public awareness ad.

I looked quickly and thought that was one of the new subway maps, and thought you were making a joke about the subway being a cervical cancer risk, which was just hilarious for some reason.

Phone is broke!  Fuck!  Looking to trade up from the G1, finally.  Maybe the Ally, after all?  Only $50 on contract, although that's a two-year commitment.

Read these totally out of context and thought pollo was making a super-lame joke. (Like, "I'm hungry." "Hi, Hungry. I'm Hannah.") But I still laughed!

Apple very graciously replaced my phone on the spot yesterday, and I now have absolutely zero complaints about it. It's snappy and responsive enough that I find myself using it instead of my computer when at home; doing things like checking email and twurting is actually faster on the phone. There's a real feeling of immediacy with every action, like things happen almost instantaneously when you launch an app or open something. I'm sure my amazement is partially born of having come from the 3G, and maybe the experience of going from a 3GS isn't very impressive, but for me, this is a fantastic improvement.

The screen is crispy as fuck, too, and warrants (most of) the hype.

Are any of you with T-Mobile? Any horror stories? Or do you like them? I'm thinking of switching over.

I was on t-mobile, and they were just pretty good; no real horror stories.

I've just switched to Verizon, though, which will be slightly cheaper, and bought an LG Ally so that I can be as cool as Tony Stark.

I've had t-mobile since 2003 and have zero horror stories. I only went with them in the first place because they had the phone I liked best. Since then I've just stuck with them mainly because it seems cheaper and I am lazy. I just have a keyboardy non-smartphone, though. My husband just got his very first cell phone - he checked plans everywhere and ended up going with a no contract t-mobile account, and bought the HTC TouchPro 2, which is ultra fancy. He seems to be OK with it as well.

The worst problems are that there's a dead spot where Bill's parents live, but Verizon and AT&T don't work there either; I've had coverage everywhere except I think when I was in Sweden. And they've had a couple network-wide text message outages over the past year, but that shouldn't ruin your life if you're over the age of 16.

T-mobile is the carrier I've always been happiest with. I had them for about 6 years until I switched to Sprint so I could call my parents for free. Overall, they seemed like the least "how can we fuck you out of money today?" company I've dealt with (compared to AT&T and Sprint). As far as I'm concerned, cell phone providers and cable companies are the scum of the earth.

Awesome shots, Jon. This thing is pretty close to a bonafide point and shoot; I shot some amazing video today, too.

This has certainly been true in my case.  It's always been extremely easy to deal with them, and the few times I've needed to delay a payment, they've been more than happy to let me do so, and I've never once seen anything I couldn't account for on my bill.

Wow. It's good to hear all of these (at least semi-) good things! Do they charge for roaming, do any of you know? The boy is with U.S. Cellular and found out that they charge pretty crazy prices when we're out of the area, which is obnoxious.

I don't think I've gotten charged for roaming, no.

My new phone is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday!  Woo!
