If you think the matter through with anything resembling rigor, the whole concept of narrative development vis-a-vis the album in question will find itself permanently tabled. And what then? The songs themselves relate to one another like strangers on a boat: they have something to talk about, but that's kind of because they're obligated by chance to spend time in one another's company. You don't even have to follow through on MoB's little note of encouragement to enjoy that note's effects. You just have to think it over. "Suspend expectations," they seem to be saying, "and leave them that way."
