It’s on Northern Heritage records out of Finland. (Who I wish, incidentally, would start a hair-metal tribute label called “Northern Hairitage,” though the chances of this happening do seem slight.) Northern Heritage eschews the irritating infatuation with national socialism that plagues black metal, claiming general misanthropy as their motivation and rightly describing black metal nazi types as “white trash.” (This is only one of Northern Heritage’s considerable charms; in a world of dull labels, they shine like a radiant sun.) Annihilatus reserve special hatred for Christianity -- see track 5, “Christian Slut” -- but certainly the focus of Blood and War is on the immediate need for pretty much everyone, Christian or otherwise, to die quickly and violently.
