The cover art is so crude that early Jandek sleeves seem opulent by
comparison; only a thousand copies of the CD were pressed; the back
cover imposes its text over a fuzzy screencap of the south tower of
the World Trade Center in mid-collapse. The music? Well, naturally
its finally-were-putting-the-basement-to-good-use raw-throated
soil-stained exploding-toilet Finnish black metal, just the kind we
like -- repetitive, swollen, unbelievably harsh and incredibly passionate.
The lyrics are screamed in a voice that succeeds in sounding both
painfully human and totally unearthly. It is compelling. |
