| Fuck. It’s not like everybody didn’t know
this was coming sooner or later, or course; it was nothing short of
miraculous that Schuldiner lasted as long as he did. He’d been
diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor -- pontine glioma -- two years
ago. Brain tumors do not play around, and now Chuck Schuldiner is
dead, after two years in and out of hospitals around the country,
having suffered the indignity of having to sell off all of his guitars
in order to pay his medical bills, since his native land, the U.S.,
clings to the savage and depressing belief that health care is not
a basic human right but a luxury for those lucky enough to be able
to afford it. |
