are they supposed to do, these people who once stood at center stage: get
day jobs? When their time at center-stage has expired (such center stages
as musicians, those most disreputable of public figures, are suffered to
occupy), are they to return to the restaurant jobs, the auto shops, the
lab assistant positions at public universities? Is there a law somewhere
in the purportedly lawless world of rock stating that you can’t hang
around once you’ve turned a certain chronological corner? |
