And so forth. Everybody just sounds like they're having fun. The new Unholy Ghost, on Olympic, is really good, and so was the last Behemoth album. Relapse and Earache, meanwhile, are also putting out albums this year that come off like they're reveling in something: or "wallowing": or luxuriating. If this isn't the sound of a movement being born, it may yet be the sound of a moment. Keep your eye on death metal, I guess, is the sole point of this week's update. Something interesting is going on. I suspect that some of the more interesting metalcore bands are going to feel limited by the constraints of their genre shortly, and some of them might feel compelled to break out the double-kickdrums and head down to Diet of Worms. Should this happen, watch out. The renaissance will not be televised, but you'll be able to smell it from several blocks away.
