OK, so that’s all of you, right: everybody sees where I’m
going with this? Good, then I don’t even have to say
it. What
this realization means for me is something fairly profound around the
house, since we here around the house have spent the last year or two
wondering how come the White Stripes are famous and the Cheater Slicks,
Monoshock, the Knoxville Girls, the Country Teasers, the Lord High
Fixers, Johnny Hash, the Paybacks, Blacktop, and most importantly the
Mummies aren’t?
Listening to White Blood Cells in a club in Austin a year-and-a-half
ago, I like everybody else was struck by how hard it rocked, but struck
even harder by how seemingly arbitrarily it had been picked for success.
The band’s backstory: who could care? The Mummies have all other
bands beat six ways to Sunday for backstory, anyhow, and will give
you the finger if you bring up the question. |
