Its just Roky and an acoustic guitar; maybe theres
a second guitarist. (If there isnt, then Roky needs to placed
on the Serious Guitar Gods shortlist immediately.) Hes playing
a really pretty, droney progression that walks down from the tonic
to a minor third below it, and then to the fourth and finally to the
grand fifth. Blues with that all-important minor pop chord thrown
in, you know. You could drift off on the sometimes clumsily picked
but always hypnotic chords, but then Rokys voice that
voice! its like Buddy Holly recording his very own version of
Patricia Hearsts Power to the people, this is Tania
tape in an unmarked desert silo keens through the murk:
The singing grandfather will saw off your head
The singing grandfather will kill you dead
The singing grandfather will drag you away |
