Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! by the Amherst, Massachusetts band Orchid is one of those slabs of vinyl whose very appearance makes me feel happy and hopeful about the future of music. Its a 10 designed in a gorgeous two-color motif; the background is a burn-out-your-eyes sunshine yellow, and the perfectly centered image at its center is in red. You cant go far wrong with yellow and red, but it gets even better. In between the bands name (which, bless us, is written in a non-annoying font) and the records title is a hand-drawn picture of a lioness with wings. She is flanked by small red stars on either side of her. The back covers almost pure yellow; the song-titles appear near the bottom of the page in small red print, with the labels logo underneath them. |
