Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! by the Amherst, Massachusetts band Orchid is one of those slabs of vinyl whose very appearance makes me feel happy and hopeful about the future of music. It’s a 10” designed in a gorgeous two-color motif; the background is a burn-out-your-eyes sunshine yellow, and the perfectly centered image at its center is in red. You can’t go far wrong with yellow and red, but it gets even better. In between the band’s name (which, bless us, is written in a non-annoying font) and the record’s title is a hand-drawn picture of a lioness with wings. She is flanked by small red stars on either side of her. The back cover’s almost pure yellow; the song-titles appear near the bottom of the page in small red print, with the label’s logo underneath them.
