Yes, yes, I’ll get back to Radiohead next week, I promise. I meant to do it this week, as there are now enough pieces of the puzzle in place that the whole gaudy, hideous verdigris picture is now becoming clear. But we’ve been doing lots of mailorder lately, and we got our order from Dischord last week, and it had the new Fugazi album in it, and something about it relegates our other concerns to secondary status this week.

If you’re like me, your first question about a new Fugazi album is: “Has it got anything on it that’s gonna make me see God like ‘Bed for the Scraping’ offa Red Medicine did?” To this antsy but valid line of questioning I gotta respond, Hey, hold your horses, cowboy. Let’s not go insane here or anything. But if you gathered your wits about yourself and asked: Is it a better album than Red Medicine, the answer is “absolutely,” and that’s quite remarkable, given that Red Medicine came out five or six years ago, and it’s not every band in the world that can better their best moves five or six years after the fact.
