The genre into which Guillonet's art falls is variously called "sound art," or "sound sculpture," or "noise music," or perhaps most inadequately, "industrial music." There is no way to describe it without being a little impressionistic, so I am not even going to try. In fact, I am going to get a lot impressionistic. Get out your umbrellas. In the three long movements that make up Axene, Jean-Luc Guillonet grabs the reins of the modern age and rides his chrome horse straight into the yawning mouth of the void.
