Which may or may not be the most profound
insight into human relations that we’ve ever stumbled across
hereabouts. What I wanted to report, anyhow, was the remarkable synchronicity
of the moment that arrested me day before yesterday: when, deep into
the jet lag, I heard that George Bush was actually audacious enough
to call the Chechen rebels “terrorists,” and then, moments
later, I listened to the Liam Lynch single that I bought in Bunbury,
Australia. It was a great moment. Politically speaking, it put me
back on my feet again. If you’re anywhere near as bummed-out
by the state of the State as I am, it may do the same for you.
Good luck!
