My candle
burns at both ends, it will not last the night/But O my friends, at
ah! My foes, it is a rock band outta San Francisco making a magnificent,
hyperorganic racket that originates in the new garage rock sound that
really got going sometime in the early nineties but branches out into
such advanced realms of psychedelia that you really can’t say
who its friends are! Guitar feedback – well, yes, thank you!
Musicians credited with playing “drums, singing bowl, conga
drum, goat feedback, sleighbells, cast iron bell with soprano heaven
bells, floating echoplex guitar, vocals, chant” and that’s
just one of the ten (ten!) players credited on the track in question,
which has the God-fearing all-owning title of “Beneath the Ice
Age”? Well, yes, thanks very much, I’ll have some of that,
too! All them instruments and about thirty more all playing at once
in kick-ass evocation of thirty cavemen spontaneously improvising
the music that called God Himself into being? You know it! Barbeque
sauce? |
