I wrote an entire article
for this week about Gorguts and how great their album From Wisdom
to Hate is, but I was unhappy with it. When I finished writing
it, I was still listening to the album, and I felt like the distance
between the mood of the article and the excellence of the record was
too great. So I am trying again. I should warn you that the new version’s
probably going to be considerably more opaque than the original. If
you want to read the original, send an email and I’ll get a copy
to you. It’s not awful or anything. It’s just that it fails
to correctly apprehend From Wisdom to Hate as it must properly
be considered, i.e., as a baseball game played near the lip of a glacier
during the ice age between the Montreal Expos and a bunch of French
cavemen.
