I could be wrong, of course; maybe Megalon is huge. I dont get
out of the house much. I know I havent read about them any place,
and I know they put out really nicely designed records whose unifying
characteristic (all great labels see to it that all their releases
share a unifying characteristic) is that theyre really low-key.
Since everybody in the whole world is, each day, getting a little
sicker of things that flash and primp and preen whorishly in order
to command your attention just long enough to let you know that theres
yet another worthless consumer item youve just gotta buy,
its a great and welcome relief to find people like Family Vineyard
and Megalon letting these pretty little records drop into the ocean
of nescience without even once raising their voices to complain about
it. The records show up in my mailbox; Ive had to condition
myself to get excited about them. They do not stick out. Like dormant
viruses, they just sit around, waiting for you to notice them.
