Yes, indeed. You see what we’re dealing with here. Both in terms of sound and presentation, Increased Damnation gives off the heady glow of hidden treasure. “Mirage” opens like a razor opening skin, snare and guitar sounding at the exact same moment and breaking into a letter-perfect impression of ‘80s thrash metal. The three-note riff, the compulsory head-nod drumming, the attitude-rich, half-sung half-shouted vocals: it’s almost like opening a door through time. There’s a lot of echo on the vocals, and you can’t make out the lyrics at all, and the guitar riff changes into something completely different every sixteen measures, and then, at exactly 1:38 of the song, Aura Noir summons the magic power that is their unique gift.
