who have already decided what you think about this week’s ruminations
by the time you get to the end of that first paragraph. “Oh, I don’t
much care about politics,” say the strawmen whom I will here invoke.
(My strawman homies know who they are.) “I’m only interested in
whether the music’s any good,” they say, or “I don’t
really listen to the lyrics,” or, not without some justification, “I
can’t understand the lyrics anyway, what with all that growling and
yowling -- isn’t the subject matter totally inconsequential if I have
no real idea of what that subject matter is?” |
