The other special thing about
Calvus is that he has the kindest disposition of any animal I have
ever met. There is something about his enthusiasm for living that
has always managed to make any problems I might be having seem trivial
and unimportant. When he wags his tail, the entire back end of his
body flails back and forth, and he appears as a creature entirely
possessed by joy. When he presses his head against your hand to get
a little affection, he puts his whole heart and soul into it. If
you’ve been away from the house all day, Calvus receives you
so warmly when you come in through the door that it lends a real
sweetness to the feeling of coming home. He makes a person feel welcomed,
and well and truly loved. |
