“Well, kick ass,” as we like to say here at Last Plane to Jakarta. While it’s true that we’ve been known to find the same still center in some of the noisiest places (an almost unimaginably harsh album by Atomsmasher, for example, which you have to hear to believe), we can’t imagine any sincere listener not hearing an eerily peaceful resonance in this album. Some people, myself included, have a hard time allying ourselves with the music critics over there at Yoga Journal, but if you’ve got enough discipline to sweep all your prejudices off to one side and give an unabashedly New Age piece of music a listen, Structures From Silence will reward your scrutiny with something very close to an altered state of consciousness. In its studied refusal to leave its point of departure, it finds a unique and oddly lush void.
