There are those who reject the whole concept of the
Big Idea, and theyve got a point, and some of them are true
masters: the Fall; Wire; the Flaming Lips; Stevie Wonder until the
eighties got ahold of him. But the Big Idea has spectacle on its side,
and it usually makes its first approach from the center of its own
outrageousness, so it often makes a bigger impression. When somebody
whos got the Big Idea manages to articulate it, through whatever
combination of language, sight, and sound, explosions take place.
Epiphanies occur. All the lights come on. Ladies and gentlemen, I
give you Massive Luxury Overdose by Army of Lovers. |
