| They’re like Dee-Lite, kind of, only they play their cards a lot closer to their chest. They are tremendously popular. Their album randomly landed in my hand when I reached into the cassette box today; I feel blessed. They dress in a truly awesome admixture of 16th-century Italian, 18th-century English, and 19th-century gypsy colors and silks. They state on their website that every Army of Lovers fan has an I.Q. of at least 140. Their webring boasts 26 different sites. They are very beautiful. Every photograph you ever see of them finds them pouting directly into the camera, lips pursed. They are from Sweden. They play disco. At their best, they sound like they must have been the people from whom the Pet Shop Boys learned all their tricks. |
