Shap is like the ultimate sword tilted at the rock windmill; it does not attempt to oppose rock, like dance music does/might/doesn't; it isn't at war with it; it just plops itself into being by making insignificant, slight, sometimes frightening, rhythmic but not groovy sounds for a little over an hour; it's so great, so great, because it makes no movement toward greatness; not only is its eventual annihilation assured (since that is already the case with everything), it's already occurring ; even as you listen, or don't; which you probably don't; I don't remember seeing Shap hit the Billboard charts; or even reviewed much at all outside of some confused mainstream publications and little goth-rags; this was '95, remember; anyhow; even if you were jacked in to the grid, you might have missed Shap ;
