Long, long ago, when all video games were 8-bit and men wore their hair all big and angular, people used to argue about whether music videos were worth a good god-damn. the general consensus among people was that they weren’t: that adding visuals to music invariably cheapened the music somehow, erasing subtleties and needlessly reducing complexities. This makes sense: music is the most abstract art, while the moving image is about as far from abstraction as one can get.
